Wright's Hallmark February Newsletter

Br-r-r-r!  It's freezing outside as I write this newsletter.  We finished Valentine's Day just in time to spend a few hours at home thinking about plans for the rest of this month and a few things to think about as March and SPRING approaches.  Before I get into some of the latest news, be sure to Like us on Facebook so you can get daily news and tidbits from our store as well as what is happening at the Town Center.

Barbie Is Back!
After a two year hiatus, Barbie® is back at Hallmark!
For 20 years, Mattel’s Barbie was among the most popular Keepsake Ornaments each season. Collectors had come to rely on adding the latest Barbie Keepsake Ornament assortments to their collections. Following a two-year break, Mattel and Hallmark are working together again –and Barbie is putting on her finest in celebration.
“We can barely express how exciting it is to have Barbie back at Hallmark,’ says John X. Watson, president—Hallmark retail. “Barbie will make her splash as a Keepsake Ornament later this year, and will also appear as a Hallmark Gold Crown-exclusive itty bittys® in 2015.”
While product details are still in development, among the items that will mark Barbie’s return are:
  • Eight Barbie Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments, including a two-pack of Holiday Barbie Keepsake Ornaments from 2013 and 2014, available exclusively at Hallmark Gold Crown stores.
  • Barbie as an itty bittys pint-sized plush.
  • Special articles with insights about Barbie in the “For Keeps” publication for Keepsake Ornament Club members.
  • A Hallmark-sponsored Barbie birthday bash for employees and Keepsake Ornament Collectors in March.
  • Exciting news and surprises all year long.
In addition, the new licensing agreement includes rights for Hallmark to create products with three other Mattel properties: Monster High®, Ever After High® and Hot Wheels®. The new agreement between Hallmark and Mattel does not include formats Hallmark has offered in the past, such as cards and gift wrap.
The first new Barbie products will appear in Hallmark Gold Crown stores for Keepsake Ornament Premiere in July 2015.

Away and Back
A new Hallmark Hall of Fame movie joined the lineup this month. Perhaps you have seen it-Away and Back.  It stars Jason Lee, Minka Kelly, and Maggie Elizabeth Jones.

When a family of Trumpeter Swans make their home on the Peterson farm pond, it’s love at first sight for 10-year-old daughter Frankie. But when Ginny Newsom, a no-nonsense wildlife biologist rushes in to save the majestic birds, it’s dislike at first sight for Frankie’s dad Jack. As everyone watches nature’s plan unfold for the swans, Frankie and her brothers also observe changes in the relationship between their widowed father and the strong-willed Ginny. Could that be romance in the air?

Several customers have purchased this one from us, and many others have placed an order.  If you would like your own copy of this movie, let us know so we can reserve one just for you.
